Document Summary

The chains on the chains of the women"s legs snapped by themselves. The things that stand out about dionysus, pentheus has not yet experienced. Dionysus is a question mark to pentheus because he knows nothing about him. Pentheus is already curious of dionysus, dionysus prolongs this curiosity to keep pentheus on his feet. Pentheus wants to cut off dionysus"s curls, wand (power), and to confine him in the palace (treat him like a woman/animal). To know the limits of your strength is wisdom to the greeks. Dionysus is accusing pentheus here of hubris (overbearing pride). Dionysus tells pentheus you will repent that name in the end. Dionysus tries to emphasize on who pentheus really is, what his name really means. Echion is one of the 5 founders of thebes, who came from the ground. He is about rationality and civilization, but he has an animal in him. Epimetheus" hindsight gave to animals, but nothing to humans.
