Was adopted within both political parties between 1900-1920. Theodore roosevelt (1901-1909) republican reformer took country in a very activist direction. Trust buster tried to bust up concentrations of money and capital. Tried to create the progressive party but didn"t work. They wanted greater government regulation of the new corporate/industrial order. They wanted to eliminate corruption in government and have a moral improvement of the citizens. Progressives sought to use new professions sociology, economics, urban planning to accomplish these goals.
