Feeling of uneasiness and apprehension about a situation, [particularly on e with an uncertain outcome. Threat =- a situation in which leaners perceive no chance for success (debilitaining) Challenged- a situation where learners believe they can probably succeed if they try hard enough (facilitating) Talk about why a student would want to learn content. Match challenges to skill level- intrinsic motivation is enhanced when we feel confident of eventual success. Extrinsic motivation can promote learning and encourage prioritizing, but shouldn"t be the ultimate goal. Assessments perceived as a means to encourage future achievement are more effective.
