Forming impressions of others: nonverbal actions and expressions give basic ideas of how you feel about someone, attributions are people"s explanations for why events or actions happen. Ex: gait, arm movements, facial expressions, tattoos/piercings: we want to know why things happen. If something random and bad happens, we make attributions to look for a reason to explain the random badness. Just world hypothesis good people receive good things because they deserve it bad people receive bad things because they deserve it: attributional dimensions. Personal attributions explanations that refer to people"s internal characteristics. Situational attributions explanations that refer to external events. Luck, weather, accidents, other people: attributions about the self, we have a self-serving bias: we give ourselves the benefit of the doubt. Good things happen because of our personal traits.
