April 28, 2020: the schizont, p. vivax, 12-24 developing merozoites, p. malariae, 6-12 developing merozoites, rosette form. Note that we see this numerical overlap (the 12 merozoites between p. vivax and p. malariae) so remember to do full scans of all fields: p. falciparum, not seen in peripheral blood, falciparum not seen in. Just one layer of blood cells: there are also pcr and antigen tests available, note that blood smears are still the gold standard for those working to diagnose malaria.
