Personality - situations affect how you behave, and can be assumed to be stable over time, but not really at the same time. Lectures will have 2 about traits, 2 about needs, and hit hard on self-perception. D. m - the scientific study of how people think about, influence, and relate to one another. Situationism - belief that social situation has the most powerful impact on behavior. Personality psych is going to answer - you behave the way you do because of stuff inside of you, needs, drives. Social psych - pressure and strength of situation lead you to behave a certain way in that situation (situationism) Isn"t that just sociology? no - sociology focus on broader social patterns and groups as a whole. Social psych focuses on individuals in a group; poverty, concept of scarcity, effect of scarcity on behavior.
