Floriculture flower production (bedding plants; potted and foliage plants; cut flowers; herbaceous perennials) Nursery production woody plants (trees and shrubs) in field and pot production. Sustainability issues: media for growing; water use; pesticides; containers; energy used in production; labor; and seasonality of sales. Conventional ornamental plant production companies are large consumers of pesticides, fertilizers, and energy, and large potential as point source polluters.
