Assessment of stuttering & fluency disorders adolescents (teens) and adults. Excess time during interview to gather information. Probe emotions and attitudes: impact on life. To obtain pre-treatment (baseline) data about stuttering frequency and type. To identify the extent to which secondary behaviors and affective issues are part of the presenting problem i. e. interjections, facial tension. To identify the therapy approach that might be most successful for that client. Duration assessed as average of 3 longest stutters. Secondary behaviors assessed as ratings of four types of physical concomitants. Scores from these three components are summed to produce total overall score percentile and severity scores based on total overall score. 76-yr old stutter-er: deep breathes and coordination, hand movements, emphasis on prosody, less monotone. Spriestersbach, 1952); the avoidance subscale of this questionnaire has been shown to predict relapse after fluency-shaping treatment (guitar, 1976: speech situations checklist (brutten, 1975); identifies patients emotional and speaking reactions to different communication situations.
