Women and the great war: germany, no question of citizenship. No serious push within the german empire. Women took on lower level service jobs. They are to stay home and work the domestic tasks. Percentages of women working: approximates the french level (which is not half bad because french use their women) Not moved into the factories during the great war. Went in greater number than austria and russia: increasing hardship. Work increasingly to keep your family fed with less. Tuberculosis deaths went up 2/3rds during war. Rare fed people rarely caught, while malnourished always caught. When women gather outside the home, it(cid:495)s enclosed spaces, large. On a farm, certain jobs are women(cid:495)s work (cid:523)child care(cid:524) When harvest comes, every hand that(cid:495)s available goes to help with the harvest groups, clustered together. Teach children at a young age how to harvest. Industrial employment, almost no change outside the home/outside the textile industry: austria, little change, shifting traditional roles.
