This level describes the basic physical needs of human and in marketing they translate into products such as health foods, medicines, sports drinks, and exercise equipment: safety: seeking physical safety and security, stability, and familiar surroundings. This level is concerned with the individual"s safety or the feeling of safety, which translates into products such as smoke detectors, preventative medicine, retirement savings/investments, and insurance: belongingness: a desire for love, friendship, affiliation, affiliation, and group acceptance. This level is about belonging and being accepted to different groups in society and forming friendships. Products that help with belongingness include clothes, entertainment, and grooming products: esteem: a desire for status, self-respect, prestige, and superiority. These feelings relate to a person"s feelings of usefulness and importance.
