Bones are covered in brous connective tissue and it is also lined by brous connective tissue. It also has nerves and blood vessels (endothelium) running through it pressure = resorption tension = bone formation stress = increase in strength. Cancellous bone dense and made of osteons spongy composed of spicules within interior located on the periphery of compact. Periosteum- located around the outside of the bone and bond with collagen bers. Endosteum- located on the inner surfaces of the bone. Both supply the bone with a constant supply of bone cells (osteoblasts) Happens in the long bones of adults, skull, pelvis, sternum and ribs. Classi cation by location support and protection of major organs. Bone in unusual space (none in people) can be found in pets and rodents found in the penis, heart. Long bones shaft/tube of compact bone humerus, femur, ulna, metacarpals,etc.
