Play group: play with another rat for 5 min/day. What 3 neurotransmitter systems are involved in rat play fighting: dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin. Resource values may or may not be easily assigned (e. g. known amount of food vs. access to mates) Experiment 1: rats trained on a play apparatus that allowed free passage between 2 boxes by a tube: control group: can cross between boxes but no play. *drugged group crossed less but played the same. What was found to be the best predictor of leadership" in barnacle geese: no reliable correlation between above factors and leadership", best indicator/predictor: boldness (personality trait of willingness to approach new objects, leaders like producers; followers like scroungers.
