Allowed slavery in the state of texas: texas state constitution of 1845. The significant difference - we had our first school system in the constitution. Politics in 1850s were terrible in the federal level - politicians didn"t do anything for the civil wars to end slavery: confederate constitution of 1861, constitution of 1866. A group came into power in congress and they wanted to punish the. The group is radical republicans: reconstruction constitution of 1869. In this, texas is going to set up a strong unitarian state. The governor will be able to control the judiciary and executives. The governor is going to be radical republican. The ordinary citizens did not like this constitution. By 1872, former democrats were given the rights to vote back. Since then texas has been a democrat state till 2003. In 1874, the elections comes to davis and richard coke. Davis said there were fraud in the election.
