Document Summary

Toward southern separatism: dynamic growth, optimism, and prosperity. Owning slaves, being a slave, did not own slaves, in or out of the slave system you were affected by a slave holding culture. Example: you don"t own slaves but sell hogs, you sell the hogs to a plantation in which the owner gives to the slaves to eat. You become a part of the slave culture. Slavery was not just economic but also social: white = good. Even a poor white person was better off than a black: black = bad. Populous movement: building about biracial cultures, attempted collation that failed. Slave or free state: different aspirations or goals. North and south grew apart (not completely) North and south are united by capitalism, but split by slavery and white supremacy. South is growing but not as fast as the north. South was a thriving place but not as much as the north.
