The topic i want to adress for my humanities project is sufism and mevlevi order. Sufism is less a sect islam than a mystical way of approaching the islamic faith. I want to research about this topic because when i was 6 we went to the city of konya in. Located in konya is the mausoleum of jalal ad-din muhammad rumi (mevlana) and the mevlana museum. Rumi was one of the most important figures of. Sufism for many years, he is the creator of mevlevi order. I want to study this topic because rumi and his followers did not only use religion to communicate with god but also used it to for science, music, and literature. The music in the museum and their movements when commemorating god really caught my attention and for years i have always been interested in them. The areas i will be exploring will be music, literature, and philosophy.
