1649 (charles executed) restoration of monarchy in 1660. Obviously (seen in the 30 years war) england is involved in war, Charles gets more involved, and wants more money to build a navy fighting for protestantism and an invasion force: wants to attack spain. Problem: there has been no european reform of the medieval fiscal: monarchs aren"t meant to heavily tax the population, instead must live off their own land . Only tax during times of crisis or emergency. Charles attempts to get money by asking parliament to help build an system army: parliament only gave a small fraction of money nowhere near enough $ 16th century: military revolution: wars used to be fought by nobles and servants, fought using crossbows and swords longbows, etc. Revolution: gun powder and cannons: expensive, but super deadly, war now was way more expensive, people failed to realize how expensive war really was. Fights against spain and france (poorly planned and is defeated)
