The social setting of interactions is rarely completely equal-instead, it is stratified by status and social position. In a job interview, you don"t have equal interaction. The structure is very important for social identity. Our social position, role, and status shape social-identity. This carries heavy expectations for interaction style and for how organizations and institutions can act towards people. Elijah anderson: unknown, young black men have the highest standards to. They have to act like they are perfect and will cause no threat for others to think he is safe. This interaction feedback into the person (young black men) and affects the dynamic of social- and self- identity. Aggregates: a simple collection of people who happens to be together but do not significantly or identify with one another. Groups: a collection of people that regularly interact with each other and share a sense of common identity. Primary groups: intense emotional connection; family, close friends.
