PHIL 315 Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Peace And Conflict Studies, Pure Mathematics, Natural Philosophy
Document Summary
Lecture 13: as can be observed, metaphysics has acted according to the method of the centralized states. Rational philosophy, on the contrary, is a purely democratic science. It is organized freely, from the bottom up, and considers experience as its only foundation. It cannot accept anything that has not been analyzed or confirmed by experience or by the most severe criticism. Therefore, god, the infinite, the absolute, and all those beloved subjects of metaphysics are completely absent from rational science. And since the development of the human mind is a real subject for science, natural philosophy assigns to those illusions their true places. Thus he does them all the justice to which they are entitled, and then he departs from such matters forever: coordination of sciences. Its subject is the real and known world. In the eyes of the rational philosopher, there is only one existence and one science in the world.
