Document Summary

The structure and powers of the executive branch. Rumsfield: presidency has to go through checks and balances, ceos have more discretion considering the business world is more black and white in decision making compared to political decision making. They really have strategic decision making as their best utilization. Can"t actually change gas prices or overturn supreme court decisions. Economic promises: they really can"t affect the economy that much. Trump: affected stock market prominently as buyers assumed markets would be more favorable with him in charge. They dealt with a king and royal governors in the colonies. Problems: separation of powers; concern about small state inequality. Powerful and independent; elected directly by the people. Problems: distrusted people and their ability to intelligently choose. Focuses more on selection and removal than on powers and limitations. Vests the president with the executive power but it doesn"t define it. President is to take care that the laws are faithfully executed.
