Big five & mbti have different purposes (mis) communication as a source of con ict. Communication is a process by which info is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behaviors. Communication is related to a manager"s performance as 50-90% of a manager"s time is spent communicating. De cient communication was a factor in 70-80% of all accidents over the last 20 years. The sender encodes the message (translate ideas into words) The medium may be spoken words, written words, or signs. The receiver decodes the message (assigns meaning to the words) Noise is anything that interferes with or distorts the message. Action (a): what (results, objectives, achieving, doing) Be aware of con ict handling style (and when they are most appropriate) Diversity = ways in which people are similar or different from each other.
