This caused conflict as texans felt their representation didn"t mean much since not many people settled in the bordering states which they shared representation with. They felt they could receive more representation as texas. Moses austin was one of the first anglo-american to settle in texas. Before dying, he asked his son stephen, to continue his establishments.
