- In short run, there is an ending. But the run that does not have ending has to be done as if
everyday is a opening night.
- Jersey boys play is on for 12 years. They are gonna close in january. They make billion
of dollars.
- If the director leaves, if director says see yaaa before 11 years then who takes
responsibility of the play??
- Who is in charge for making sure things maintain integrity,specificity?
- Which person takes place of director when he leaves?? Things can and will go wrong and
u are present to it.
- The stage manager takes over the director's role because he does everything that director
did in terms of rehearsal, run the show that night, do understudy
- What happens when that stage manager leaves?? Other stage manager make that show
happen that night.
- 1st stage manager writes down in something called regular 3 ring binder called
prompt book . On the first day of rehearsal, this book looks like 1st page of script
and lots of margins. Stage manager starts to pour lots of info.
- Stage manager doesn't have to reinterpret the script as the director have to.
- Producer hires everyone and oversees if everyone's gets paids and delegates stage
manager and does not do anything what stage manager does.
- Producer once went to rehearsal and saw worse management and said u are performing
on the broadway. Called national tour and did show on broadway. Then fired entire cast
at broadway.
- Producer made negative event as way to rebuild everything. We are going to make new
costumes and cast and everything while national tour is running the show. Producer took
opportunity and made into entire new show and people were excited to see as they
thought it would be fresh. He also gave opening date of May 15-- Lemis play
- Bottomline is stage manager that fell down and lost management. He disappointed the
producer.
- There is always a spy for producer.
- If actors don’t move= blocking.
- Most complex page (that prof. Did )of production fiddle on the roof, 38 actors,
celebration at the wedding at village, soldiers coming home and u have 38 bodies in
action. It all written down by stage manager and used arrow and lines with notations and
different colors, u could read the whole act in 2 sentences. U have terror, chaos in 2 lines.
- If the director is not around and u have to describe to understudies what else would u say
to actors? What’s ur point of view and 1st stage manager is writing down what all is
pertinent to that page- notes.
- U can give this to later generation. U can't interpret and can't go ahead and direct act
