Perceptual constancy perceive speech as a series of phonemes: hear things like dee, dah, doo. Woman speaks a little higher pitched than a male. It is not about sounds we do perceive things in a certain way (acoustic) Occam"s razor prefer the easier or simpler theory that explains the data this would be the auditory theory, if data is explained by both auditory and motor theories. Can do the same thing speaking: shows assimilation and silent center vowel affect, can have the same phonetic context affect with non-speech things.
