Vitamin a deiciency- swollen eyes, weight loss, skin infecions. Vitamin c deiciency- mouthrot in snakes and lizards. Depends on wild diet: seeds, grass, wood, insects. Vitamin c deiciency- appeite loss & painful joints (scurvy), esp. guinea pigs. Obesity- can prevent rabbit from eaing cecotrophs, causing broad nutrient deiciency. Dehydraion- can be lethal, hermit crabs need fresh and salt water. 1: digesion: starts w/ mechanical (chewing) & chemical (saliva) in mouth, breaks down food into absorbable chemicals, absorpion: cells take up nutrients, eliminaion (excreion): wastes eliminated. Food breakdown in compartments coninuous w/ outside of body. Complete digesive track (aka alimentary canal) has 2 openings, mouth & anus. Food moving in only 1 direcion -> compartmentalizion & variaion.
