Hypomanic episode: 4 days, distinct period of abnormally elevated, expansive, irritable mood (goal-directed activity or energy, 3 or more symptoms, not severe enough to cause marked impairment in social or occupational functioning or needing hospitalization. Major depressive episode: 5 or more symptoms, 2 weeks, depressed mood, diminished pleasure.
