Single blind study: subjects are blinded to what treatment they are receiving. Placebo- when a pill with nothing in it/sugar pill is given without the person knowing that they aren"t actually being treated. Psychologically there is an impact even when a placebo is given. Double blind study: subjects and researchers are blinded. Blinding of researcher is done to avoid the experimenter affect. Need random sample to extend to total population.
