Gender identity: the conception a person has of self as being male. Gender role: the cultural expectations about how males or females should feel, think, and act. Parents tend to restrict adolescent girls more tightly than boys (where they can go, who with) Identity development: crisis: a period of role experimentation and exploration among alternative choices (diffe rent identity issues choices, commitment: demonstrating a personal commitment to particular values, beliefs, and ro les. Commitment made after crises experienced (commitment among the experience) The individual has resolved his/her identity issues and made commitments to particular g oals, beliefs, and values. Identity moratorium: no commitment made and is experiencing crisis. The individual is actively raising questions and seeking answers.
