Evaluation and treatment of disorders related to articulation. Problems with resonance and filtering can begin at glottis or within oral cavity: can result in articulation/intelligibility problems. Instrumental techniques using kinematic (movement pattern) measurement can assess articulatory function. Speech output can be assessed with acoustic analysis. It is also used to evaluate disordered speech. So that teeth and bones are not blocking the articulators. : can show high resolution, 2d or 3d midsagittal or coronal views of tongue. Sagittal view shows tongue height, advancement an dslope. Not everyone has one of these machines. It is expensive to own and upkeep the equipment: you have to be specially certified to do this. Electropalatography (epg: series of electrodes arranged on an acrylic pseudopalate (pseudo = fake) Custom made to cover an individual"s hard palate and upper teeth: surface electrode attached to the person"s wrist that generates a small, safe charge that, current flows to pseudopalate electrodes when speaker"s tongue makes contact with.
