Describe evidence for both the propositional view (pylyshyn) and analogue view (kosslyn) A theory of imagery: the quasi-picture view. 5 ways that images & percepts are functionally analogous. In imagery, the activation comes from a mental representation of an object or scene store in memory instead of a physical stimulus. Constructed out of the same info and processed using similar parts of the cognitive system. We act like our mental images are physical entities. Info in long-term visual memory info in visuo-spatial sketchpad describe info (verbal output), copy info (motor output - drawing), match info to an external stimulus. 6) 5 principles - images & percepts are functionally analogous. 1) images are perceptually equivalent to pictures. 2) images have spatial equivalence to pictures. Rxn times are longer when asked to connect two points on a map that are farther apart (for maps & images)
