A: rome had a lot of respect for the works created in greece and were often criticized for not producing a lot of original material rather, they mostly expounded on theories, philosophies and literature stemming from greece. Romans felt like greeks had such a rich culture that they didn"t mind borrowing from it. He was a philosopher and poet, wrote on the nature of things (de rerum natura) This poem became a bridge to the metaphysics of the renaissance. Did not believe in obsessing over death or in an afterlife. Very pragmatic thinker and interested in science and nature; he viewed humans as just another species. Did not believe the earth was created specifically for humankind because if the gods also created winds, hurricanes and other brutal natural disasters that disrupt our comfort on earth.
