Final exam: intro to media: media(tion, messages, means, and agents, culture, ethnoscape, mediascape, technoscape, finanscape, ideoscape, tensions underlying a global media, homogenization/indigenization of culture. One culture simulating or resisting the traits and tendencies of a culture, often through media: visual culture, semiotics. Adorno and pop music: discourse, the shared system of knowledge in which a society exists, theoretical structure in which media makes sense to us, media around us give us a system of knowledge. Finding things that are popular for one group and make it popular for another. The way in which our sense of ourselves as a people, the people is reflected to us through media systems: mass media, kinds of media that reach enormously large audiences, media masses. Medium: the way in which we deliver media. Predispositions: prior attitudes and beliefs: can convince people to take action.
