William james studied thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Behaviorism - scientific study of observable behavior , didn"t care for mental processes. John b. watson - classical conditioning and b. f. skinner - operant conditioning. Watson and raynor conducted little albert experiment. Focused on how current environments alter growth potential. Importance of having need for love and acceptance satisfied. Led by carl rogers and abraham maslow. Cognitive revolution happened in 1960 and focus returned to interest in mental processes. Cognitive psychology explored how information is perceived, processed, and remembered. Neuroscience - how body and brain enable emotions, memories, and sensory experiences. Evolutionary - how natural selection of traits promoted gene survival.
