Document Summary
Water freezing is an exothermic reaction (heat is released) Ex. when a radiative freeze is expected to occur, the grower can water the crop so that when the freeze event occurs, it will release heat when it freezes, saving the plant. Whenever a water molecule leaves a surface, it is said to have evaporated. Each water molecule that becomes water vapor takes a parcel of heat with it. Simply stated, evaporative cooling is the process of removing heat from the air by using water vapor. Water evaporating is an endothermic/cooling reaction (heat is absorbed) Exhaust fans pull air through the greenhouse and exhaust it outward. At the far end of the greenhouse, there is a pad system made of cellulose and is pretty wet, water is pumped throughout. There are vents to the back of the pad. When the fans turn on, the heat from the air will hit the wet wall and cause evaporation.
