In 2008, came the idea that they would make liverpool a city of culture. One of the main things that revive a city is the appearance of art. It was one of the big revivals of liverpool. Terence davies was asked to enter a competition with others to make a documentary about liverpool. This film was not a celebration of liverpool. About the individual triumph over their adversities. He was brought up in the age of social realism. He pictures in his head the demolitions process and the rebuilding of jerusalem (utopia) going on in the 50s which he juxtaposes with the song by peggy lee of the folks that live in the hill. So hes going to show the rebuilding of liverpool and compare it to the new.
