Document Summary

Comparison between the last question and the parable of the prodigal son, which was read for the last lecture: the parable: The time is limitless, it is a very circular time structure: both. In the parable, the son could be said to be developing his consciousness, just as all humanity is developing and ultimately merging their consciousness in the last question . Asimov seems to be suggesting that technology is considered god, or will be in the future from his standpoint in the past. On the last question, asimov said himself, this is by far my favorite story of all those i have written. After all, i undertook to tell several trillion years of human history in the space of a short story and i leave it to you as to how well i succeeded. Negative: it depends on the perspective, in a way, the ending is neither happy nor sad, but rather it is neutral.
