Built by wahnsonakawa: he controlled the whole region. 1607- john smith sailed into their land and created jamestown colony. John smith was taken prisoner by the natives because the colonists forcefully took food and other resources from them: pocahontas saved him. Colonists paid high expenses for tribe food: there was a balance of power through trade. Colonists used weapons to take resources and land from the natives. Tobacco use became popular in england, so english in jamestown fought for more land for roughly 25 years. December of 1620- mayflower sailed to the colony of plymouth: plymouth was once a native tribe called patuxet , which was destroyed by disease. Massasoit (wampanoag chief) used his interpreters to make a treaty with the pilgrims . Thanksgiving of 1621- considered the pilgrim"s first thanksgiving : not the first thanksgiving in history, the wampanoag people and pilgrims made it an annual feast. Massasoit died, and his son, king phillip came to power in 1662.
