ANP 330 Lecture Notes - Lecture 36: Postcentral Gyrus, Substantia Nigra, Medulla Oblongata
Document Summary
Region containing centers for auditory and visual reflexes midbrain, corpora quadrigeminal region regulating thirst, hunger, body temp and endocrines. Parkinsons disease substantia nigra is involved in controlling voluntary movement. degeneration of the substantia nigra leads to parkinsons disease. Limbic system emotional brain, directs response to emotion made up of cingulate gyrus, hippocampus, and amygdala. Cingulate gyrus mediates emotional response to stimuli; behavioral responses to emotion hippocampus. (long term) memory and behavior- gives link between ans and behavior (stress) amygdala process fear and memories based on emotional impact (aversion center) Where csf is made, capillary rich membranes located in the roofd of the four brain ventricles. The spinal cord runs through through vertebral canal of the certebral column. Runs from foramen magnum in cranium to the first or second lumbar vertebra. Conus medullaris spinal cord tapers into this at its inferior end. Filum terminale extend from conus medullaris to inferior coccyx, anchoring the spinal cord.
