1st amendment : freedom of speech - but has it"s limits , restrictions (if you break the rules you will go to federal court)! Can"t intend to hurt someone or their reputation ! Can"t make a threat to the president ! Used to not be able to yell re in a crowded theatre ! these can cause violence/riots/panic: the amendment written to protect the government from overreaching you ! Laws take time to change technology changes faster than laws : ex: cyber bullying laws took time to catch up ! Ex: planned parenthood can say anything now - protected under political speech ! Libel intentionally lying about someone to intentionally harm them : the courts don"t protect a public citizen as much as a private citizen ! Invasion of privacy : federal laws don"t protect this so it can vary from state to state !
