PSYC 2000 Lecture : Thinking NOTES
Document Summary
Monographs, or books, are one type of information source, but they aren"t the only type. To do a thorough job of research, you will most likely have to include periodical literature in your works cited list. Remember what we said in a previous lesson: books (or monographs) provide depth to your research, while periodicals can bring your book research up-to-date by providing current (or at least more recent) information. Popular periodicals popular, a. ( p pj l (r)) Intended for or suited to the understanding or taste of ordinary people, esp. as opposed to specialists in a field; spec. (of literature, etc. ) intended for and directed at a general readership. Above is the definition of popular as it is used in the present context. Popular, as used here, does not imply popularity (that is, general approval). A periodical is popular not because a lot of people like it, but because a lot of people can read and understand it.
