Document Summary
The step test is a popular and efficient means of determining aerobic fitness and vo2max in certain populations due to its minimal use of equipment and overall time efficient procedure. The original step test was created by harvard and was often used in the diagnosis of heart disease. Since the creation of the original step test, many colleges have developed their own version. Queens college step test is currently the most widely used version, and it is used as a way to test the aerobic fitness of various populations (kaminsky, 2014). The queens college step test is most commonly performed on college-aged students (webb, vehrs, george & hager, 2014), however it has successfully been adapted to test children (farris et al. , 2012) and older adults (petrella, 2001). The equipment required to perform the queens college step test includes an electric metronome, a standard 16. 5-inch step, and a timer or stopwatch (kaminsky, 2014).
