Scientific method (important): observation, generalization or model, predictions of hypothesis, test; circular motion that constantly repeats. Terminology: hypothesis-experimentation that has not been tested (best guess) Theory-hypothesis that has been tested many many times and always supported. Means really good model but may not be perfect. Law-theory that is continued to be tested and continued to be supported. Difference between you and the chemicals you are made of is how they are arranged together to create you. Solubility: sugar in water dissolved; sugar in ethanol didn"t dissolve. Like dissolves like-(compounds that have similar properties dissolve in that compound that is similar) Like in terms of polarity (non-polar solutes dissolves in non-polar solvents; polar solutes dissolves in polar solvents) Ethanol is non-polar which opposes sucrose therefore it wont dissolve.
