What is science: a body of knowledge, an approach to understanding nature. Science: the use of evidence to construct testable explanations and predictions of natural phenomena, as well as the knowledge generated through this process. What do scientists do: make observations, attempt to discern patterns, assume that the future is like that past. What is the outcome of the process: our model gets better. New observations either support our model, make us more confident of our model, or the observations don"t support our model, which causes us to change our model: we never get to an answer that we completely trust. Most commonly used signature to know if something is alive. What determines solubility: like dissolve like, like in terms of polarity, polar solutes dissolve in polar solvents, non polar solutes dissolve in non-polar solvents.
