Four basic steps to idea multiplication: gather stimuli: start with the customer, some product they would like but can"t find. Just observe: multiply stimuli: report back on findings and start brainstorming and concept and possible improvements. Ensure everyone has a chance to talk: create customer concepts: build a simple mockup of what the product will look like for visualization. Does not necessarily need to be a physical representation: optimize practicality: play devils advocate. 3 categories: core customer (pta, secondary target audience (sta, tertiary target audience (tta) Trends: need to spot them, affect demand, foretell emerging markets and suggest window of opportunity, suggest increasing market demand.
