Alexander hamilton- from new york, convinced the group to try for a third time, head of. Agreed to have the meeting in philadelphia. May 1787- september 1787- the constitutional convention was underway in philadelphia. 55 delegates attended the convention and most of them were wealthy, college educated, were slave holders, law was the common profession, and the average age was 44. 21 of the delegates had served in the continental army, 7 had served as governors of states, more than half had served in the continental congress. These were the best men that america had to offer (with some exceptions)
