Us mexico border, 1989 miles of border, 1/3 of the border is fenced. Strategic hardening of the border began in the late 80"s. rivers, mountains, deserts. Border fences in urban areas have forced migrants to cross further away from habituated areas. Many have died due to exposure, dehydration, heat exhaustion when crossing through arizona"s sonoran desert. Perpetrators were members of organized crime, as well as state security forces immigrants to the us, immigrants primarily from european countries.
