Muscle move bolus from top of esophagus to stomach. Food falls in larynx but stays above level of vocal folds. Food has fallen below the level of vocal folds (trachea or lower) Food and liquid left in oral cavity/ pharynx after completed swallow. Listen for cough, choke, wet vocal quality, signs of struggle. X ray machine in which food is coated with a substance that can be seen on x rays and a continuous x ray.
