States still main actors in ir system. There are main military, economic, and political powers. Us is still the world"s most powerful country. Other 20th century powers are still in the top tier. Japan, germany, uk, france, italy, canada, australia, russia (new powers include china, india, brazil, south korea) Change since the end of the cold war. The ir system is now truly global in scope. End of the divide/dissociation between us and ussr blocs. Integration of china, india, and others into global economic affairs. Trade, finance, labor, culture, education, travel, information and ideas. Polarity of system from bipolar to semi-unipolar and lumpy multipolarity. Ussr much weaker russia, not a global player. Rise of china, india, brazil, south korea, indonesia, turkey, mexico. States are sharing more power with other actors.
