Begin to think of possible topics for group presentations. Requires 3 people in some form of communication to achieve a common purpose. Broadcasting communication to a large group of people through mass media. One person is the speaker and everyone else is the audience; message is meant for audience, not speaker. Communication between two people of different cultures. Ex: one person from china and another person from ethiopia. 7 components: context, noise, sender, message, channel, receiver, feedback. Context - the environment in which communication is occurring. Noise - can be external or internal - and serves as something that can disrupt communication. Sender - also called speaker, source, and communicator - is the person doing the communicating (or speaking) Message - the information, idea, or content being communicated. Channel - the medium of communication or means of communication. Receiver - also called audience, destination, or communicatee - is the person being communicated to.
