Symbol: a thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a material object representing something abstract. Symbolism: the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities; symbolic meaning attributed to natural objects or facts. Examples: red solo cup, android symbol, batman symbol. Grammar of food- any particular food and the associations surrounding it; used as a system of communication. Spirit of food- the feeling and/or messages communicated; ex: ambiance, aesthetic, nostalgia. Myth- extended metaphors, help make sense of our experiences. Commemorate the liberation of hebrews from slavery in egypt, led by moses. Israel- first and last days are legal holidays. All types of jewish people- reform, conservative, orthodox. Participants are of all ages, though some parts of the seder are omitted for younger children.
