Document Summary

What factors are necessary for interspecific competition to occur. Conditions (both environmental factors and species properties) that affect strength of competition. Differences and similarities between intra- and interspecific competition. Which of these, if any, always will increase competition between species: requirements of two species are more similar, resource is in shorter supply, not two species are closely related nor one species is better at getting. Species c. this suggests that either b is better able to obtain resources in this area or is more physically adapted to these harsher conditions. In the lower tidal areas, species b is not required to adapt to the harsher conditions of the air. They may not have as hard of shells or shells that cover them more. They are able to outcompete species c in the lower tidal areas because they are able to better obtain resources in these areas.
